What experience should I have, or qualifications?

Caremark are looking for professionals who have management experience, are ambitious, have a real desire to build a sustainable, successful business in their local community. You must have a passion for the industry, have good communication skills and enjoy meeting with people and networking.

Where will my business be based?

You will be operating from your office, based in your designated territory. Part of the support offered in the initial stages is working with the regional development manager to find a suitable office.

What are my main activities as a franchisee?

  • Business development.
  • Developing contacts with the local authority, NHS discharge teams, other key stakeholders in your community.
  • Marketing the business.

You will recruit a care manager who will look after the operational side of the business, including the recruitment of care staff and overseeing the delivery of care. They will maintain a quality and compliant service and oversee the training.

What training is provided?

You will attend a 10-day programme, with 8 days classroom-based and 2 practical days (one day at a franchisee’s office and one day training on software), giving you the knowledge you need to set up a successful Caremark franchise. The training focusses on legislation, policies and procedures, suppliers, finance, PR and marketing.

What is the total start-up cost of the franchise and what does it cover in summary?

£100,000. This covers the franchise package (£29,750 + VAT) and the 12 months working capital (around £65,000).

How much personal funding do I require and can I obtain funding?

£30,000 personal funding. Caremark have strong partnerships with a number of leading high street banks, who will normally lend around 70% of the total investment required, subject to a satisfactory business plan.

How do I get clients?

By promoting your services to the private market and developing relationships with your local authority, NHS discharge teams, and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). You will be supported with this as part of the support Caremark offers.
