InXpress Chester and Manchester owner, Nikki, took a calculated risk when she left teaching. Growing up, Nikki Edwards wanted to teach. A seventeen year career saw her fulfil her goal. “I taught PE at secondary school – my dream job! My career was both challenging and rewarding, and I’d been appointed Head of Department.”
In November 2012, aged 39 Nikki bought her first franchise. “There was no way I’d teach PE in my 60s!” Nikki laughs. “I invested in a franchise with InXpress, hiring someone to run my business. When he announced he was moving, I needed to run InXpress myself. It was tough to walk away from the job I loved.”
Nikki has a unique understanding of franchising. “In 1999, my dad started InXpress from my bedroom,” she explains. “The beauty of franchising is the support. Even though InXpress Chester had been going for a while, I wanted a fresh start. Head Office and other franchisees are always happy to offer advice, so I’m not working it out alone.”
Nikki built a successful business using the model established by her dad. When he retired eighteen months ago, it seemed natural for Nikki, with her sister Zoe, to run his original franchise. “The franchise model works! The global success of the brand, once operated from my bedroom, proves it.”
