Leaving a Job she Loved to Build a Secure Future

InXpress Chester and Manchester owner, Nikki, took a calculated risk when she left teaching. Growing up, Nikki Edwards wanted to teach. A seventeen year career saw her fulfil her goal.I taught PE at secondary school – my dream job! My career was both challenging and rewarding, and I’d been appointed Head of Department.”

InXpress | NikkiIn November 2012, aged 39 Nikki bought her first franchise. “There was no way I’d teach PE in my 60s!” Nikki laughs. “I invested in a franchise with InXpress, hiring someone to run my business. When he announced he was moving, I needed to run InXpress myself. It was tough to walk away from the job I loved.”

Nikki has a unique understanding of franchising. “In 1999, my dad started InXpress from my bedroom,” she explains. “The beauty of franchising is the support. Even though InXpress Chester had been going for a while, I wanted a fresh start. Head Office and other franchisees are always happy to offer advice, so I’m not working it out alone.”

Nikki built a successful business using the model established by her dad. When he retired eighteen months ago, it seemed natural for Nikki, with her sister Zoe, to run his original franchise. “The franchise model works! The global success of the brand, once operated from my bedroom, proves it.

What Our Franchisees Say

I’ve known about franchising for quite a while and I’m reassured by the fact that 95% of franchisees are still in business after 5 years. New businesses often fail before the initial five years.Bill Carter, Liverpool franchisee since 2008

I chose to franchise with InXpress because it’s like someone’s got their arm around you. I also liked the fact that you didn’t need a lot to run the business. You can run it from home, an office or anywhere in the world as long as you’ve got an internet connection.Kully Sahota, Peterborough franchisee since October 2012

With InXpress you don’t buy or sell stock so the business has low overheads and you don’t lose money on damaged stock. You’re selling the services of world branded products and it’s much easier to sell DHL services than white van. E-commerce is booming at the moment because more and more people are now buying online.Craig Atkins, Reading franchisee since 2007
