Not content with simply doubling his business interests, Kingston upon Thames businessman Mark Phelps, owner of the town’s FASTSIGNS® signage and graphics franchise, has also scooped a top award for impressive sales results in 2007.
Mark, who recently acquired a second FASTSIGNS operation at nearby Staines, accepted his prestigious Sales Improvement Award at the company’s 11th annual franchisee meeting, which was attended by senior management both from the UK and its corporate headquarters in Dallas, Texas, USA. “I was thrilled that winning the award came so soon after taking over the business in Staines,” he explained. “It’s certainly been a very busy and very challenging year, but recognition like this is a real compliment to everyone who has worked so hard.”
Buying the FASTSIGNS centre in Staines represented an important step in Mark’s business development plan – and also helped him achieve a personal ambition. “I always wanted to operate a second location, so when I got the chance to purchase the Staines franchise, I felt I had to seize the opportunity with both hands!” explained Mark. “Although both locations operate independently on a day-to-day basis, a major benefit of owning two centres is that one is able to support the other if required, for example in terms of production or sales support for a big or urgent job.”
Since taking over the Kingston operation in 2005, and more recently the Staines business, Mark is delighted that business has increased significantly. Both FASTSIGNS Kingston and FASTSIGNS Staines are specialists in signage and graphics products including exhibition displays and corporate and retail signage. Leading clients include Legoland at Windsor, the Chessington and Thorpe Park theme parks, and the new Heart Shopping Centre development in Walton on Thames.
