Inspirational Paralympian Mark Eccleston is set to motivate delegates by recounting his amazing story at Bluebird Care’s annual conference and awards evening.

Inspirational Paralympian Mark Eccleston - who defied all the odds to become a gold medallist after a horrific accident as a 16-year-old - is set to motivate delegates by recounting his amazing story at Bluebird Care’s annual conference and awards evening.
Bluebird Care - Britain’s foremost care-at-home provider – have invited Mark to describe how he overcame immense personal hardship and disappointment after a promising Rugby League career was cruelly cut short by an accident which severed his spinal cord – leaving him paralysed and reliant on a wheelchair.
Mark will describe his mental recovery from the depths of despair, which saw him triumph both nationally and internationally in Wheelchair Rugby, and later table tennis.
He said, “After attending the English Institute of Sport Bootcamp I was advised by internationally renowned speaker, Frank Furness, to get involved in speaking as I had a great story to tell. I will tell Bluebird Care’s franchise owners how I dealt with my accident at such a young age and tailor my talks so the audience can implement some of the principles I used to be a successful international wheelchair athlete, into their working and everyday lives.”
Mark will be a guest speaker at Bluebird Care’s conference on October 23, when the Hampshire-based company will welcome 130 delegates to the event at the Marriott Hotel and Country Club, Forest of Arden, Warwickshire, as part of its ongoing commitment to staff support and training.
The conference acknowledges franchise owners’ achievements in building thriving businesses in challenging economic times and includes an awards ceremony for a number of categories – including The Spirit of Bluebird Care, plus best newcomer.
Bluebird Care’s Group Managing Director Paul Tarsey said, “Mark’s story is an inspiration to us all and we hope it will enthuse and motivate our franchise owners and also help them gain a deeper understanding of the challenges as well as the achievements of a successful Paralympian such as Mark.”
The Hampshire-based care company – now operating from 91 offices across the UK and Ireland – has secured rapid but sustainable growth during the past year, as the country battled recession.
Bluebird Care’s many achievements included notching up sustained business growth, with each month’s performance outstripping the last; and reaching the finals of the British Franchise Association’s annual awards.
