Meet Helen Clarke former BDM for Lantern FM Radio
I have over 20 years experience in advertising and marketing, and prior to taking on my Spoton.net franchise, I was the BDM for Lantern FM Radio. I was also one of the Directors in my own restaurant and holiday apartments business.
When we had the business, we paid well over £2,000 for our website and we had to phone up every time we needed to change text or prices, which took a lot of time and money! This was not only a direct loss but also indirect, as I was not able to be instantly proactive with special offers and promotions, which meant I lost business to my competitors.
During my time at Lantern FM, I realised that there are a lot of small businesses out there that haven’t got a website for various reasons – the initial cost of setting one up (usually thousands of pounds for a quality site), the additional hidden costs (hosting, domain names, enquiry forms, emails) and having to pay others to change text/ prices, add images and build extra pages etc. All of those things cost us time and money, so I could appreciate what other businesses must be going through.
I eventually decided to go for a franchise because I wanted the opportunity to earn as much as I wanted, when I wanted and be proud of what I was doing – plus the satisfaction of earning money for myself rather than for others. I looked at a couple of different franchises and then came across Spoton.net, under the Google search of ‘franchises for woman’. After talking to Matt Baines at Spoton.net, firstly on the phone, then during a visit to an impressive head office in Devon, I realised that this was a very exciting opportunity. I was able to offer local businesses, not only a high quality, self editing website, but also a unique web marketing system which is a fraction of the price that others charge in my area. It is a great feeling to be able to visit local businesses with a fantastic service, knowing I can give them something no one else can come close to!
Since joining Spoton.net, I have not looked back and will shortly reach my initial goal of having 100 clients on board! I have had lots of referrals from my customers, the only problem I have now is keeping up with all the new orders and enquiries, as all my sites are ready within 7-10 days! My goal is to have at least 4 people working for me in the future, giving me more time to be able to see potential customers and help them save money.
