epi franchisees deliver great results for Comtec

Cost Management Solutions organisation epi International were sought by Comtec to investigate business processes and improve effectiveness.  Franchisees of epi were extremely successful in delivering solutions that improved efficiency and saved money for Comtec, resulting in a very satisfied client!

PROJECT SYNOPSIS

Comtec Europe was formed in 1995 and has grown Comtecrapidly from a start-up to a market leading position within the leisure travel technology sector. The company's client list includes the UK's major travel agency retailers, over 70 tour operators and major players within travel e-commerce. Today, Comtec systems process over £5billion in annual sales revenue for customers. Comtec was happy to be one of the pioneer sites for epi and we worked closely with Ceri Jones, Comtec’s Financial Director to use the new epi system. Using the epi technology delivered through MyEpiCentre.com we automated the 6 key steps of epi’s proven methodology and have already identified significant savings in just one area.

THE SOLUTION

Epi developed a detailed organisational model to define Comtec’s organisation by sites, functions and business processes. Based upon this model, review schedule intervals were agreed for each business process. The epi planning module then implemented the scheduled reviews of Comtec’s business processes and identified a number of viable performance improvement solutions which were presented to Comtec management.

The Successful epi and Comtec project teamComtec management decided to focus initially on a solution for reducing mobile communications expenditure, a major cost area for the business. Using epi Sourcing Manager capable suppliers were identified and a revised invitation to tender produced, based upon Comtec’s mobile communications requirements. A new supplier was selected and cost savings of 29% were achieved. The epi on demand software within MyEpiCentre provides Comtec with the ability to continuously and sustainably improve their financial performance through the on-going scheduling of business process reviews.

Comtec are now implementing plans to extend the scope of epi across the company, this will include internal epi training and epi coaching programmes and other projects including travel management. MyEpiCentre has already generated cost savings for Comtec in the first business process.

Additional areas for performance improvement are now being reviewed. A further benefit of MyEpiCentre for Ceri Jones has been the visibility of financial information by business process which the system has provided and without requiring large amounts of his and his team’s time.
