Sam and Dave have a Dream Door Partnership

18th November 2008 - Dream Doors

After years of working and commuting long hours, Sam & Dave Clemitson saw owning a Dream Doors franchise as a means to the rewarding lifestyle they craved. Originally from Cape Town South Africa, the tranquillity of the coast soon beckoned them so they took over the Bournemouth franchise and the rest they say is history…

Sam and Dave Clemitson - Dream Doors FranchiseesWhen did you begin operating?

“We bought the franchise in July 2004 and began operating in October 2004. “

What did you both do before taking on a Franchise?

“I was working as a Recruitment Administrator and Dave was working in construction although his background is sales and carpentry.”

Why did you decide to go into Franchising together?

“Neither of us were happy with the long hours we were working and having to commute long hours everyday and thought working for ourselves would be far more rewarding.”

Why did you decide on a Dream Doors Franchise?

“Dave’s background is in sales and carpentry and this meant he could transfer his skills to the business (he deals with all the sales and fittings) and I could use my skills as an administrator to deal with the day to day running of the business.”

Sam and Dave Clemitson - Dream Doors FranchiseesWhat are the benefits of Franchising together?

“Not everyone can work with their partner, but we are fortunate that we work very well together. We have different skills so share the workload. Also we are ultimately working towards a common goal together and are better able to manage our family life.”

What is your typical day like?

“We opened our showroom mid March and things have really taken off. I’m in the showroom everyday dealing with customers and calls and making appointments for Dave. I also deal with advertising and the financials. Dave is either out fitting or visiting customers in their home.”

What advice would you give to future Dream Doors Franchisees?

“If you want to work for yourself and have more flexibility, I would recommend a Dream Doors franchise. Also it’s good to know that you can run your own business, but still have the back up of a national company.”
