eeds with plans to build his own branch network and although he has had to work unbelievably hard he talks here about why the past 12 months have been the most exciting in his life. . . “Having enjoyed a secure career within a global company for much of my working life I suddenly found that I had developed a driving ambition to channel my skills and energy into building my own business.
My career was marked by success that culminated in my position of Technical Manager in charge of a large production team and in which I gained considerable respect for a number of achievements including improving production rates and business development on the whole. I developed a confidence in my abilities to organise and motivate people that sparked a desire to invest my skills in my own future and - with that - I set out in pursuit of a business concept that would flourish under the qualities I had to offer. A keen interest in property made estate agency an obvious choice and as soon as I came across Enfields franchise I started to get extremely excited.
The franchise offered everything I was looking for – the perfect balance between autonomy to run my own company with the systems and support to make my venture a guaranteed success. I instantly made an appointment with the franchise recruitment team and after a successful telephone interview in which my own suitability was assessed, I was asked to their Headquarters near Southampton. If I wasn’t already, I was instantly sold on the Enfields franchise when I met Managing Director Rob Mott and witnessed first hand how the Southern branch network operated on a daily basis.

After my time in Southampton I went home to speak with my family and we jointly agreed that this was the opportunity for us. The following months were more hectic than you can imagine but exhilarating. I was still in employment but every spare hour was spent finding premises, securing finances, employing staff and training. Every step of the way however Enfields were there advising, guiding and supporting me through.
I launched my business in January 2007 and I have not looked back. Adopting Enfields systems has allowed me to launch with the expertise and a presence that even established agents in the area have commented on. From day one my branch has been able to offer customers complete moving home packages, staff use the latest marketing techniques and technology and I operate my business in a way that promises to be highly profitable – all under Estate Agency of the Year branding. 
In my first six months I have crashed through sales and referral targets, developed a substantial property portfolio and customer database, conducted a recruitment drive for more staff 2 months ahead of schedule and even appeared in a BBC Television feature providing opinion and advice on first time buyers getting on to the property market – a superb PR exercise for my business! With confidence in the future I am now making plans for developing a network that will include branches in nearby conurbations.”
